Title:   Panathenaic Amphora Fragment

Description:   Single body sherd, chipped at right. On smoothed exterior, part of standing Athena with lower edge of shield (?) at right. Simple incised details (straight verticals and cross lines, rough lines following silhouette).
At right, inscription (painted):
Clay brown, gloss rather washy sepia-black. Inner surface plain. Poor style.
Context mixed Roman, but presumably earlier.

Context:   East and Middle Terraces, brown gravelly fill. Found with P 32179.
