Title:   Cup Fragment: Arretine Ware

Description:   Rim and wall fragment.
Conical-bodied cup with vertical rim. On outside of rim, shallow concave band between small moldings, marked off by grooves; on inside, concave band in upper half, flanked below by a groove. Edge of a groove (marking off floor) visible on interior at break. Fine rouletting in upper rim-groove and on lower rim moulding.
Good red gloss Arretine ware.
Probably Arezzo ware. Conspectus form 22. The only 'classic' rim of this type (Haltern 8), with internal rim-mouldings, noted on the site; other finds share the single rim treatment seen on P 7644. Note: no fine groove on inside of lip.
Context: ca. 50 A.D. (a few sherds maybe late-middle century).
