Title:   Greco Italic Amphora Fragment

Description:   Upper part of amphora, mended from four pieces. Complete rim, large part of neck missing, one complete handle, upper and lower attachments of the other. Complete shoulder and large part of upper body. Inner rim chipped.
Sharply modelled with pointing mushroom rim. Groove around neck at start of concave sloping shoulder. Sharply carinated outer edge of shoulder turning down to sides of vessel.
Pale slip, micaceous, wide scatter of red-brown, very dark gray, gray stony inclusions, some lime, streaks of red-brown in pale tan matrix.
Munsell 7.5 YR 8/3 (core) and 10 YR 7/2 (slip).
