Description:   Fragment from a large closed vase, preserving a bit of a large palmette-and-scroll pattern, with two narrow black bands, and a broad diagonal below. One petal red.
The clay gray as if from burning. The glaze a firm black.
Orientalizing style.
ADDENDA White "slip" described by Brann (Agora VIII, no. 658) is actually residue/deposit, visible on all breaks as well as on surface and on back [SPM, 19 March 1980].
