Title:   Closed Vessel Fragment

Description:   Two joining fragments preserving entire handle, but only very small portion of rim and body from a large wheelmade vessel.
Tall vertical handle, oval in section, attached directly to rim. Thickened rim, gently flaring, with outer and upper edges rounded. Perhaps from hydria.
Paint thickly applied and mostly well adhering. Exterior face of rim and rim top painted. Elongated St. Andrew's cross on outer face of handle. Lower handle attachment ringed. Band on rim interior. Painted fired for from red to black.
Fabric fine, close to pink 7.5YR 7/4.
