Description: | Two joining fragments preserving portion of belly, including complete handle, of large wheelmade closed vessel. Body curving up; horizontal handle, round in section. Paint mostly well adhering, though rather worn on belly to right of handle. Paint dark reddish brown to black. Three thin horizontal bands on belly below handle. Handle decorated with arch and bow that extend well below bands below. Belly-zone on either side decorated with three wavy lines that converge at lower handle attachment. Perhaps B-amphora rather than hydria. Fabric fine, close to light reddish brown 5YR 6/3-6/4 on interior, closer to pink 7.5YR 7/4 on exterior. | |
