Title:   Black Figure Lid Fragments

Description:   Four (now five) fragments from the rim of a large lid, pierced for suspension. Around the periphery a band of geese moving right. Above them a band of sirens and lions.
Fine buff clay; free use of incision, and purple for details.
Notes:   H 8-10(?) on card. No, this trench is η, inside Metroon; from these trenches only "footing trench of period IV" is part of H 8-10.
Context:   a) Metroon, Pit η, layer 2, overlying ruined tops of light walls and Metroon Pit Θ, south extension, clearing disturbed surface; b)-d) Metroon, Pit η, layer 2, overlying ruined tops of light walls; e) Metroon Pit η, south side, layer I.
