Title:   Red Figure Askos Fragment

Description:   About half preserved. The shoulder is flattened above a low curved body; very low base. Traces of the line of the neck and of the attachment of the handle remain. On the shoulder is a seated dog with very pointed nose and long wavy tail, one paw raised; facing him is another animal in a similar position with a beak-like nose (griffin?).
Attic clay; black glaze inside; crude sketchy work.
Conservation Status:   Finished
Context:   Just above level of white clay filling.
