Title:   Black Figure Amphora Fragment

Description:   From the wall of a large amphora; broken all around. Parts of two lions facing one another with a solid rosette between. They stand on a black line. The black ground below is bordered b y two purple lines. Purple for the manes of the lion and the heart of the rosette; free use of incision. Two fragments (ΟΕ 227) added 21 March 1938 give the foreparts of two lions opposed, but with heads turned back. A solid rosette between the heads, a band of double palmettes above the panel.
