Title:   Skyphos Fragment

Description:   From a deep skyphos, mended from nine pieces. One stub of handle preserved. Body to handle zone covered with narrow bands. Handle zone filled with grate pattern, except for three panels; in narrow panels left and right, double axe, or hour-glass on its side. In wide central panel, horse walking right, followed by a bird. In field, double axes, hatching, zigzag and lozenges. Interior glazed except for three reserved bands inside lip, the uppermost decorated at intervals with vertical hatching.
Pinkish buff clay with creamy slip. Dull brownish red glaze.
