Title: | Lid: West Slope | |
Category: | Pottery | |
Description: | The fabric and style of decoration of this lid are identical with that of the bowl P 5649, but the lid is considerably too small for the bowl and the two thus seem not to belong together. Shallow conical lid, complete save for a few fragments, and for a vertical flange inset ca. 0.01 m. from the edge of the flat rim. Small round knob, flat and with a groove, on top. A groove, reserved and painted, at inner and outer edge of rim. Around the knob, petals; below, dolphins and vegetable ornament in clay color and white, as on P 5649, but without incision. Dot rosettes in white over the glaze, almost completely gone. Excellent red glaze, inside and out; fine light red clay. | |
