Title:   Red Figure Oinochoe

Description:   Oinochoe, shape III. The wide ring base, neatly profiled beneath, and colored pink, preserved. Large parts of the body missing and all of the lip save at the upper handle attachment, and most of the neck. Restored in plaster. Handle triangular in section; a neat palmette pattern at its lower attachment. Decoration on the body in a panel bordered below by stopped maeander and saltire squares, at the sides by narrow plain lines. At left, a satyr stands right, holding out a wicker box or tray. In front of him, on the ground, an oinochoe. At right, Dionysos standing facing, apparently looking left. In his left hand a thyrsos; in his right a kantharos. No relief contours. Careful work. The lower part of the pot fired red. Red wash on the bottom.
