Title:   Vessel Fragment with Graffito: Knidian

Description:   From a mould-made pot, with a small vertical handle, double-grooved. Uncertain representation. Light red clay; dull red glaze outside and dripped inside.
a) Side wall (corresponding to fragment b) preserving side of head including a second handle.
b) Side wall of a closed plastic pot, presumably in the form of a large mask-like head. The fragment preserves part of the hair over the forehead at the right side, upper part of right ear and some of hair at back; locks represented as in braids. Above and a bit behind the ear, a grooved ring handle.
At the back, below the line of the hair, part of an inscription, impressed in the mould: <graphic>
Reddish clay, slightly micaceous. Dull red-orange glaze outside and on part of unfinished inside.
Context:   Mixed fill. Fragment b) second triangle, south, layer I, red fill.
