Description: | Nearly one-third of plate preserved in two non-joining bits made up of many fragments. Very large plate, with low broad foot ring, flat bottom, and low broad rim. Rim is elaborately moulded and toward outer edge has a narrow cable in relief, and then a tongue pattern. Clay is fine, but full of bubbles and holes, gray at surfaces, and brown at core; highly micaceous; good black glaze quite lustrous inside. | |
