Title:   Red Figure Bell Krater Fragments: Inscribed

Description:   a) Fragment from wall preserving start of offset rim. Part of head, left shoulder and breast, and left hand holding a pyxis lid(?) of a woman seated(?) facing right, draped in a chiton with thin, fine fold lines. In white above her hand: ΠΑΙΔΙΑ and at upper right: <graphic>. ADDENDA Wreathed. A maenad dancing right, clashing cymbals.
b) Wall fragment. Back of head, right shoulder and upper arm, and breast of woman to right. A thrysos crosses her shoulder; she wears a chiton loosely fastened on shoulders, and a white bracelet and string of beads.
c) Wall fragment preserving a bit of drapery. Not certainly from same vase.
d) Rim fragment. Rim flares up from a sharp offset to a heavy rounded lip. On offset, an egg pattern. Above this, a broad band with slanting palmette scroll; a broad reserved band below lip. Inside, a reserved band at edge of lip, and a narrow one at top of wall.
Relief contours on a) and for the upper arm on b). The freely sketched-in hair runs from black to golden brown.
Context:   Well, lower fill.
