Title:   Head Fragment of Female Figure

Description:   Back part of small head, broken at base of neck. From a high relief, left side of the head broken off. Hair of head at front rendered in narrow ridges marked off by a groove from the back part, which shows crinkled wavy locks gathered into a shallow plain knot at the nape. At the left side (close to the relief background) the waves are not fully worked.
Altar of Ares Series?
Pentelic marble.
S 400 is a non-joining fragment of same head. They have been put together with plaster.

Conservation Status:   Finished
Context:   Pit between Temple of Ares and altar foundation, ca. 4.00m. N.E. of S.E. corner of Temple (northern pit).
