Title:   Statue of Faun with Goat
ΤΙΤΛΟΣ:   Μαρμάρινο άγαλμα νεαρού Σατύρου με αυλό, που σύρει τράγο 150 π.Χ. περίπου

Description:   Mended from over 73 fragments; apparently deliberately destroyed. Missing is body of goat and fragments from back of neck and back of right hand of faun.
The faun, smiling, is holding panpipes in his right hand; left hand is grasping horn of goat crouching at side. He has pointed ears, short horns and short curly tail and is dressed in a goatskin. His upper teeth show, and the dimples and wrinkles on his face are clearly indicated.
The marble has rusted in places to a deep ruddy color; nude parts highly polished; goatskin worked with toothed chisel, traces of red paint; goat roughly worked; back of figure worked with toothed chisel.
The back of the head was apparently broken off in antiquity and mended by a dowel strengthened with cement; when found, the join had worked loose; as shown on photograph taken before mending.
Pentelic marble.
Fingers of right hand and pipes stolen 14 May 1964.
ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ:   Νεαρός Σάτυρος. Αποτελείται περίπου, από 73 συνενούμενα τμήματα. Λείπουν τμήματα από την πλάτη, το λαιμό και το δεξί χέρι του Σάτυρου. Πεντελικό μάρμαρο (μέσα 2ου αιώνα μ.Χ).
