Title:   Draped Standing Female Figure
Category:   Sculpture
Description:   The head, set into a rough picked socket, now missing; arms missing from elbows; the left knee and the front of the leg below it broken away; the drapery much chipped, especially at the sides.
The figure, Peplophoros, stands with the weight on the right leg, the left knee bent. The left arm was bent at the elbow, with the lower arm, doweled into the upper, thrust forward. The right arm, broken just below the elbow, hangs straight at the side so far as preserved, but on broken lower edge is the trace of a dowel hole, with a bit of iron adhering, suggesting that its position may have been that of the bent left arm.
The figure wears a heavy chiton girded at the waist over a long overfold, beneath the lower edge of which appears a little of the kolpos. The under sleeves are in a thinner material, buttoned along the arm. The hair hangs in a heavy mass down the back.
The predominantly vertical lines of the drapery are deep-cut, and in part finished with the rasp, in front and on the sides. At the back only very shallow folds indicate the drapery.
Pentelic marble.
