Title: | Torso of Male Figure
Category: | Sculpture | |
Description: | Head, right arm and shoulder, left arm, left leg, and right leg from middle thigh missing. The surface broken in diagonal line across the right side of the chest, in the drapery of the animal skin, just below and to left of paw, and behind on the right buttock. The figure wears an animal skin, which passes under the right arm and is knotted on the left shoulder. The knotted end hanging down behind is not distinguishable as a paw; the front end however is clear. The ends of long curls are visible on the left shoulder. On the left hip there is a projecting piece to which a support was probably attached. The upper part of the left arm is held well to the rear. The break across the right side of the chest may perhaps be the mark of the right arm crossing the body. Dionysos? Pentelic marble.
