Title:   Draped Male Figure Fragment
Category:   Sculpture
Description:   Fragment from a less than life-size statue; preserved is only the body from waist to just above the knees.
The figure wore a short chiton, drawn high at the sides, falling down, front and back. Down the front, and now largely broken away, falls a heavy fold of cloth, which extended apparently to the bottom of the chiton. At the back of the right leg a projection has been broken off. The left leg is advanced, the folds of the chiton are flat and stylized, fading into surface of the body over the hips. Above the pelvis and the hips, the surface is raised slightly giving the effect of corselet.
There seems to be no drill marks, even in the fairly deep undercutting of the fold down the front.
Pentelic marble.
