Title:   Head of Female Figure

Description:   Badly battered; cut down on left side; nose and chin liberally chipped away.
A female head, nearly life-size. The hair is drawn up to a knot at the crown of the head, ringlets escaping behind the ears, and at the nape of the neck. The eyes are deeply set under a fold of skin at the outer corner in "Scopasian" style.
Iron dowel in left side of head ca. 4.5m. above and slightly in front of ear. Mouth drilled at corners. Animated flamboyant hair, braided along part.
Early Hellenistic?
Pentelic marble.
