Title:   Head of Silen Figurine

Description:   First interpretation: Satyr playing the flutes.
The face, the forehair and the hair immediately beside the face, the right hand holding the flutes and the top of the flutes themshelvees are preserved.
Blunt horns over the temples.
Crude work. Traces of red paint. Yellow slip.
Light reddish clay.
ADDENDA, 1955: Silen drinking from kantharos, fillet and ivy flowers in his hair. The right hand holding the kantharos, the top of kantharos is preserved. Also traces of white and blue paint.
Cf. T 380, possibly same mold but different retouching.
Context:   Surface fill east of cellar.
