APC Image: AK 1069E.M. 12750. Fragment of archaic pedestal of white marble found close to the Parthenon column drum. The inscription was cut horizontally at the top of the pedestal. Part of the cutting in the top into which the statue was fitted was preserved. The shaft of the pedestal was circular, as is indicated at the break below the inscription. The name Peikon which appears on this inscription is very rare. The only other instance occurs in another archaic inscription from the Acropolis (IG., I 2, 635). It is not unlikely that the Peikon in the two inscriptions is the same man.
