Stratum:   Fill of grave. Dark brownish brown silty clay w/ 15% pebbles and 5% cobbles, loose.
Notes:   B54 is the excavation of the well preserved krater and trefoil oinochoe. Oddly, we found two sherds of later (Classical?) date as well as a nail. Therefore this might be disturbed later but left alone. Also, there is a white, clean cobble placed upright in the oinochoe. Also there were two others placed on either side of it. I am unsure of the relationship. There is a well preserved possbily very large skyphos inside the krater. After several hours of excavating, we removed fourteen vessels, almost all of which were completely intact or very well preserved. Also, there were cobbles purposefully placed inside the mouth of several oinochai. It appears as though the vessels were carefully placed there from above. We sieved 80% and kept all the soil inside the pots and some from outside for the water sieve. We postulate that this could be an undisturbed burial niche. The "Classical" sherd turned out to be part of the base of the Geometric krater. Found iron nail, murex, bone, carbon, obsidian. See pg. 98 for top plan.
