Notes:   B40 is for the digging of a very small area of reddish brown earth that had remained in place to the S of the large cutting at the N end of the trench. The digging of this basket revealed that the earth is actually mixed, with both reddish-brown and brownish-brown earth; the more brownish earth is predominant in the E portion of B40.
