Corinth Basket: NB980 B83 P172
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   NB980 B83 P172
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   980
Context:   83
Page:   172
Date:   2006/06/21
Stratum:   light brownish brown, very soft, 10% fine-coarse pebbles, 20% cobbles, 5% boulders, well sorted fine sand
Notes:   With B83 we are removing the W portion of the tile feature, which rests slightly on top of the broken horizontal tile (the E end of which we just freed of the rocky earth in B82). The earth is soft, with a good amount of cobbles and tiles, and a few boulders toward the bottom. At the bottom the earth becomes gravelly. The lateral extent is less clear, however; the soft rocky earth appears tro continue W below the harder layer where we stopped in the W portion of the trench at the bottom of B83. We will continue digging the W portion of the trench in B84 to better understand this soft, rocky earth. One cobble at the bottom of B83 is embedded in the water channel. We may have overestimated the cut for the tile feature.
