Stratum:   Cistern 2006-01 fill. Light yellowish brown; fine grained soft; 15-20% inclusions; medium to coarse sized pebbles; very poorly sorted; clayey sand.
Notes:   This basket is a continuation of basket 90 begun after an arbitrary stop. A fragment of an amphora handle with a partially preserved stamp was found at E 411.33, N 975.15, elevation 89.48 (Corinthian B with stamp PHI IOTA). Fragmentary small vessel missing base, handles and neck was found at E 410.97, N 975.07, elevation 89.43; soil was found within it and was kept inside. Bronze coin was found at E 411.25, N 975.00, elevation 89.38. A miniature bowl came to light at E 411.05, N 975.03, elevation 89.40.; the soil inside remains there. As in other previous baskets iron slag, charcoal chunks, mudbrick, bone and shell continue to be found. Other small finds included a worked horn (cut smooth at either end), metal clumps (bronze and iron) and a lamp fragment. Two passes were taken in this basket before we made another arbitrary basket change. We are near the bottom of the cistern and we hope to identify a use fill when we excavate the following basket. All soil was dry sieved except for two bags collected for water sieving. One quarter to one-half zembil of tiles and cement plaster was collected; as in basket 90 this amount is much less than previous baskets such as basket 89. Photographs were taken after the completion of basket 91; see notebook page 169 for pictures (photograph numbers: JPG-2007-0170, BW-2007-11-08.
