Notes:   Basket 34 removed the brown layer of soil that was revealed in basket 33. This was done in an attempt to better define what we believe to be a possible foundation trench for Wall 297. Withint his soil were a snumber of small bits of charcoal. Basket 34 was closed when it became clear that the foundation trench did not continue to the West. Rather, the brown soil in this basket extended all the way to Wall 297, cutting directly through the area in which we had hoped to find further indication of a foundation trench, and then went under the wall. Once this soil was removed, a light red soil appeared underneath, confirming the conclusion that the foundation trench does not exist in this area.
