Stratum:   Possible foundation trench for Wall 297. Light yellowish brown; fine grained soft. 10% inclusions, medium pebbles poorly sorted. Clayey sand.
Notes:   Basket 37 removed the thin strip of soil along Wall 297. We also hoped to see if a lower course of Wall 297 existed under the course that is currently visible. Only a small amount of pottery and no small finds were revealed. At the conclusion of the basket, it is uncertain if Basket 37 represents a true foundation trench, especially as Basket 34 cuts into it. It does appear, however, as if there is no lower course under the visible course of Wall 297. All soil from this basket was sieved. After Basket 37, final photographs of this area were taken.
