Stratum: | Stones (pebbles), ceramics, bones, glass
Description: | The soil color is light brownish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes: | We begin excavating 1008 because it cuts floor 961, which we are hoping to better understand. Is 1008 related to contexts 808, 810, C430 dug last season? We begin screening 50%, but after Panos finds coin 2031-37 in situ, we move to 100%. We follow this looser dark sediment W along the north face of wall 807, but have we conflated two fills, one related to the pits to the E and one to wall 807? At the W extent 1008 exposes a fill with tiles and cobbles beneath floor 961; in the remainder the underlying fill is more compact than 1008.
