Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the SThe soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clay.
Notes:   NE quadrant of clay surface first revealed under the tile scatter B51. Clay surface arbitrarily divided into four sections to allow for greater specificity in interpretation of water sieve data--maybe there will be different patterns in different areas of the surface.
Some roof tiles were lying flat on the surface; these were kept.
Eleven shovelfuls were sent to the wet sieve (about 1 bag-full); two barrowfuls were sent to the dry sieve.
Underneath B105 was revealed more clay, orange in color with grayish brown patches. B105 was an also orangish and whitish when first uncovered.
The entire clay surface (B100=B102=B105=B106=B108) has a moderate slope to the south.
Originally thought that perhaps B102 et al. were the sub-floor to the used floor surface represented by B99. But if some of the roof tiles were lying flat on B102 et al, how can they be sub-flooring?
