Stratum:   30%- tile, ceramic sherds, small cobbles, large pebbles, charcoal, bone, glass, iron, bronze
Description:   Top slope of the context is level down to the N. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   This context is a fill under the curvilinear walls 1068 and 1069, located just east of the west scarp of the excavation area and north of cut 809. We started diggin in hopes of better understanding the date of the walls and the activity in this area as a part of larger program of investigation of area south of Turkish house. The context was relatively deep and required multiple passes to remove. Due to the presence of small pieces of charcoal in the soil, we elected to take a sample for water sieving. A coin, 2013-83, was found near the top of the context. Ceramic sherds were abundant in the context, and there was also a lot of broken tile and cobbles, animal bones, and charcoal.
After we removed two passes of soil from this deposit, it became clear that the layer goes under the tellowish brown soil of baulk between cuts 809 and 890, located to the east. Therefore, we have to stopp digging this layer and remove the baulk that is laid on it before we continue digging this fill any deeper. The current context is laid on a layer of tile and in the eastern part of the context. The physical relationship between these three contexts is as follows: yellow-brownish soil of the baulk between cuts 890 and 809 is laid on the current context, which is in tun laid on tile layer, which seems to continue under all of it extent. Therefore, we decided to close the current context and we will move east to the baulk (excavated as context 1075). When we ascertain the extend of this baulk and remove it, we will come back to this area and we will dig the continuation of this deposit as a separate context.
Lot of individual sherds that are not going to mend up- clean up, dump, perhaps after an earthwquake?
