Stratum:   very dark soil with c. 15% inclusions of pebbles and small cobbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the SW. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the SWThe soil color is very dark yellowish black. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We excavated the area south of B180 in order to clarify the extent of the cutting anf the orientation of the wall remnant uncovered by B180. The fill was softer and darker than a yellowish fill to the west and than an underlying reddish fill. The first pass over the area revealed the edges of the fill. As the fill continued downward, we took a second pass, which came down on a reddish, harder stratum to the west and and on the southeast and northeast quadrants of the basket. We were able to determine the edges of a feature in line with the N-S wall/ robbing trenches at c. 264E which may be a continuation of the feature revealed by B180 as a robbing trench. The fill within the feature is softer and darker than the fill which frames it to the east and the west. There is also a linear area of different fill at c. 1007N that alligns roughly with the wall remnant at the east edge of the pit (cut=B71) to the east of B181.
