Stratum:		Inclusions: 10% cobbles, 5% pebbles, less than 5% white flecks. There are also a number of roots growing through the soil
Description:		Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the WThe soil color is light brownish white. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy clay.
Notes:		B 209 is the excavation of a ledge of soil just north of the pit (B 71) and south of B 208, although the bothros of 208 may run under this ledge. This is why we are taking this out. I am still unclear as to the relationship between these two pits and now that this ledge separating them is being removed, the relationship has become more difficult. B 208 runs under B 209. This basket is somewhat difficult. Since we had to remove soil above the pit, it is hard to see where that layer ends and the pit begins again. I plan to end this basket when we think we hit that point and finish digging the pit separately. Also there is no division now between the two pits. My assumption is that the bothros we are digging right now cut into the pit to its south but it is possible that it was one larger pit, although my pickmen have not said such. Have cleaned up this area and the pit more stones of the apse are visible. Guy believes the apse was added to the building to which it is attached. It is clear now that we have dug this material out of order since we are digging whatever was inside the apse (pit or not) and have not dealt with the foundation trench of the structure or any soil on top ot if. Finds; bone, pottery Post excavation notes: After completing the final week of excavation, we realized that we excavated a number of baskets out of order. B 206 turned out to be part of the apse of the wall. All the baskets excavating the wall and its foundation and cuts should have been excavated before we dug the material in the interior of the building (B 204, 208, and 209). We did not realize this at the time but now understand that what we thought was a pit was the interior of the apse. Thus we now know that this basket was not part of a pit. It was fill inside the building but I am still uncertain as to its relationship with the true pit to the south of this basket.
