Stratum:   composed mainly of field cobbles in a sandy silt soil with inclusions of pottery sherds and field cobbles (75%), the cobbles are a mix of rounded, sub-rounded and angular.
Description:   Top slope of the context is uneven down to the E. Bottom slope of the context is uneven down to the EThe soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is very soft. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   As topsoil was removed, a conglomeration of stones was uncovered partially overlying the E-W wall on its southern side. Our working assumption is that the cobbles were piled against the field boundary by farmers as they plowed this area.
We instructed the workmen to remove the cobbles in the hopes of finding more of the unplowed area underneath.
We began taking measurements for sketching after the workmen began removing the cobbles and had to ask them to halt temporarily.
For about 6.5 m. from west to east the cobble pile continues to abutt the wall evenly until it becomes less dense and begins to overlap the wall. We decided to treat this less dense area as a different basket.
