Stratum:		5% fine and medium pebbles
Description:		Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish black. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:		(refer to context 5191 for excavation of martyr) This thin deposit of reddish brown soil existed only at the south end of the martyr under brown deposit (5230). Although it is seperated from the thicker red layer 5223, which prevails on the rest of the marytr, we initially thought the layers to be the same deposite and excavated 0.70m into the red layer 5233 to the north. At that point, we realized that the layer to the north (5233) was clearly redder, sometimes even yellowish red, than the thin red deposit under brown level 5230 and thus began a new context. Additionally, the thin red layer to the south (5231) prevailed at an elevation approximately 0.15m lower than the top of the red layer 5233. Upon re-examination, we realized that there was also a gap of approximately 10-15cm seperating the two red layers. As in the case of the brown layer 5230 above this thin layer, the small size of the excavation area prevents any clear conclusions as to the nature of this thin red layer. Underneath it, we had come upon a layer with a jumble of tiles, which we have yet to excavate.
