| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | Pit fill deposit 534 is a deep lens of fill within the pit cut 528. The pit cut 528 cuts through the floor that extends between wall 313 to the east and 332 to the west. This lens of fill is the first below the clayey deposits and pieces of floor that slid into the pit. The deposit grows less compact as excavation proceeds to lower elevations and falls easily away from the wall of the cut when struck with the pick axe. This pit full deposit is truncated to the north by the pit cut 526. The fill 534 is not producing a striking of either bone , pottery or building materials, as such it is not clear what its intended function is. Also, its diameter is too large for a well. 15 May 2009 We continued this morning the excavation of context 534. We are still removing the same dark colored soil with inlcusions of cobbles, rootiles, pottery and bones. We closed the context when we reached a soil change . | |
