Stratum:   20% inclusions: cobbles--spherical/angular, roof tile fragments, pottery
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We are excavating this fill level with the goal of uncovering the floor uncovered by the removal of 5712 and 5715. 5731 has a portion to the north of the context that is the top cut of pit 5629. This context appears to be leveling fill. Most of the deposits east of 5731 (east of 265.40 E) appear to be disturbed and patchy in appearance (see contexts revealed by 5729).

Though 5731 follows the cut of robbing trench 5750, it is a distinctinve deposit and not the fill of the robbling trench. This conclusion is supported by the firmness of the soil of 5731 as well as its color which is redder thanthe underlying 5736. It is most likely that the top plan outline of 5731 which is similar to that of the robbing trench is a result of the slumping of the robbing trench fill underneath it.
