Title:   Dumped fill on top of floor west of wall 306
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1103
Context:   594
Page:   0
Date:   2009/06/02
Stratum:   40% inclusions; roof tile, ceramic, bone, fine-coarse pebbles, cobbles.
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the E. The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit context 594 is a lens of dumped fill on top of the floor that is expected to run northward from wall 376 underneath the lens of collapsed roof tile. It is located west of wall 306 and lays against the west scarp of Nezi field at 265.5 E. It also continues into the scarp wall such that the deposit is sectioned in excavation. 594 is near pit cut 501. The matrix of fill seems similar to the matrix in which the tile destruction to the south is set into the heap of roof tile south of pit cut 501. The boundary between the context is diffuse, though the inclusions are very different. The removal of context 594 revealed a floor which is light pinkish/ yellowish red in color. The floor is beaten earth, and not obviously clay. There is a disturbance in the floor just east of the scarp that is a circular ring of stones with a projecting course of four cobbles in a southerly direction. It is possible that this disturbance is a feature such as a built pithos for storage.
