Notes: | On the north side of the room north of the courtyard in the Byzantine house lay a shallow clay hearth (0.6 x 0.73); (0.09 thick rim). Clay was firm but not hard; almost round in shape. Interior was filled by a shallow layer of ashy soil (no apparent bone inclusions). Hearth lay on top of tile fall; tiles below were burned black. Entire contents of hearth were water sieved as well as entire contents of structure itself. Hearth was entirely constructed of clay with no inclusions. | |
