Stratum: | Ceramic sherds; stones (small to coarse pebbles; sub-rounded to angular; mostly tabular to platy); plant material: 20% inclusions
Description: | The soil color is light yellowish grey. The soil compaction is firm. It is clayey silt.
Notes: | Context 6125 is possible leveling fill in room NW of courtyard of Byzantine house. Surrounds and was likely cut by well 5876. Context 6125 excavated at this point in attempt to get this room down to Byzantine levels. This context had two separate sections divided by context 6110 (& cut 6109). Because context 6125 partially surrounds well, decision made to leave a small martyr around the well. At first glance, soil has white clay-like appearance, which is common for Frankish period (GS). Soil is light, yellowish gray clayey silt with 20% inclusions (ceramic sherds, stones, plant material). Removal of context 6125 revealed patches of compact white and compact reddish surfaces. These could represent a series of fills or patches. Context 6125 first revealed by removal of contexts 6107, 6108, and 6110. By end of removal of context 6125, does not appear to be in separate parts.
