Stratum:   60% rounded fine-coarse pebbles, roof tile, fragments
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the N. The soil color is dark pinkish brown. The soil compaction is weakly cemented. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit 621 is a beaten earth floor or levelling fill that was walked upon and acted as a construction surface. The smoothness of parts or the deposit favors the former interpretation, but the composition and depth of the deposit favor the latter. Likely the floor 620 above, the floor 621extends westward from wall 313 to wall 332 and northwards from wall 305. It likely would have met the robbing trench 450 in the north, if portions of the deposit had not been dug out of sequence as deposits . The floor 621 abuts all three walls 313, 332, and 305, as well as the platformed structure 452. The same slumping caused by the pits 527 and 528 that was noted in floor 620, also affects the floor 621. Because the clay surface of 620 was so thin, the elevation of floor 621 is also comparable with the threshold 536 in north south wall 332, indicating contemporary use.
The concentration of pebbles in this context varies. In some places the stratum is very pebble rich and in others less so. It is decided not to differentiate the varying degrees of pebble concentration by assigning different contexts to them but rather regarding their deposition and function as if they are part of the same event and are being removed as one variegated context.
The removal of the deposit 621 revealed a lens of white clay along the east face of wall 332, which itself is laid upon a lens that appears to be either a beaten earth floor or levelling fill that was walked upon in the process of creating the red clay floor above.
