Description:   Structure materials: limestone, tiles, paving stones from the late Roman road (3). Material size: .31 m W. x 0.44 m L. x 0.17 m H.. Material finish: squared, some surfaces smoothed and some chiseled. Material construction: uneven courses, corners stressed. Material bonding: dirt. Features: threshold 6285 is contemporary..
Notes:   The top phases of this stretch of wall were removed as structure 5553. What remains is a structure made of squared limestone, interspersed with large flat horizontal styles in uneven courses. The wall runs the length of the room in which we are working, but is being described as three different entries: 6300, 6285, and 6027. This is because 6285 is a threshold feature, and 6027 is different in its mode of construction and material used. The actual depth of 6300 was never reached, so its full height is not recorded.
There are five courses preserved, not of a standard height, but with stones of equal size for each course. The section facing west features all courses of stones, interspersed with small courses of horizontal tiles. (see form for drawing, not to scale) The section viewed from the south does also show, from its southern side, much smaller, roughly faced cobbles with increased incidence of tile (see form for drawing, not to scale). The elevation in this side of the wall is lower- maybe this is a different phase?
The northern face of structure 6300 forms a squared door jamb that goes together with threshold 6285. Two blocks laid horizontally support a tall block laid lengthwise (see form for drawing, not to scale)
