Stratum:   5% inclusions, mainly with medium pebbles but also some coarse and fine pebbles. As well some large patches of white clay.
Description:   The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This context (7182) in Room F, East half ("the pithos room") is another deep fill below fill level 7162, which is distinguished by its harder, compact sediment. The top of the layer was probably compacted into a beaten earth surface. This conclusion is supported by the two postholes (7181 and 7179) cut into the top ca. 0.08 meters of this fill layer. As well, the fact that the top few cms of this layer were beaten hard yet a little looser further down supports such an intepretation as a beaten floor at the top of this fill. It is lkely that this fill (7182) was deposited to level the larger area as the foundation trenches for the three surrounding walls (E: 5347; S: 5334; W: 7445) are all cut into this fill (and the North wall: 5450 rests well above). Perhaps this was part of the larger terracing operation. In the ca. top 0.08 m of the layer there were chunks of white clay perhaps suggesting redeposited architectural material (floors/mudbricks). The small sherds from this area supports such an interpretation. After 0.10-0.15 m the sediment became quite sterile (<1 sherd per bucket) so probably only sediment with some mudbrick was used to level here. Howver, a new level was not called because it was impossible to distinguish the sediment, this was only noticed from the sieve. Around this time we began sieving only half of the buckets, so about 75% were sieved for the total context.
