| Description: | Top slope of the context is level down to the E. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | We proceeded removing the boundary between two two sections, blue and pink, of the excavation area. This context was located directly below tile layer 982 and wall 540. We are hoping to relate this material, left in the baulk under wall 540, with strata excavated on either side in the 2012 season. We continued to excavate the light, reddish-brown soil, finding ceramic sherds, some tile, and several pieces of flat glass. We closed the context upon reaching a layer of flat tile. We hope to be able to relate this second tile layer to the stratigraphy from the 2012 season. Also, we found a fragment of a pebble mosaic in this context. | |
