Context:   295
Date:   2016/04/06
Stratum:   Light reddish brown-grey.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We open this context to excavate the foundation trench along the Western wall (and boundary) of the area. It extends from the furthest S foundation block to a small rock visible in the fill in the N end. The soil is a sandy silt with a little bit of clay (based on its compaction) and a reddish-orange brown. Similar to the E foundation trench, there is not very much cultural material, but there is also some modern material, including metal and glass, found. This context is closed when we encounter bedrock in many parts of the bottom. A note that yesterday afternoon serveral photos were found that seem to indicate that Broneer excavated the W (and perhaps E) foundation trenches-- perhaps the N also (but no photos obvisouly indicate this).
