Title:   Reopening of Dark Soil in Rectangular Cut
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1110
Context:   513
Date:   2016/05/09
Lot:   Context 513
Stratum:   bone, sherds, obsidian, marl clay, sub-rounded spherical to tabular medium to coarse pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey sand.
Notes:   478 was closed artificially at the end of the last season because yellow team ran out of time. We are now finishing the excavation of 478 as a new context, 513. we openedthis context 6/5 by taking photographs and elevations, but did not begin excavating ituntil 9/6.
the first pass of this context was lighter and crumbly because it had been exposed for some time. We initially thought that it was rocky, but what seemed to be rocky in fact were hard lumps of soil.
The whole of the cut is in bedrock, and it is a well-cut rectangle, so we think it might be architectural, not a trash pit.
