Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 106
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 106
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Context Type:   Deposit
Title:   Clay surface west side fourth from top
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   106
Date:   2014/04/21
Stratum:   2% ceramics (tile and pottery), pebbles (coarse).
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty clay.
Notes:   The clay surface of the current deposit was revealed in the removal of context 82 (third surface). The surface of this context is the western side of a surface truncated in the middle by cut 104. The other surface was excavated as the east side separately. The two have the same elevation and light gray, semi-firm clay. The surface is further truncated on the west side by cut 85 and 87. Like the other surfaces above, the current surface has few inclusions. After about 0.25m of excavation we come down upon more of the wall first revealed in the excavation of 101. The southern portion of the deposit is a small baulk left by the cut of 55 in the west and 104 to the east, and measures 0.10m east to west and 0.60m north to south. We halt excavation after revealing the wall and removing the clay on the small baulk. We feel confident enough now in our identification of the wall t give it a structure number, and will henceforth refer to it as structure 110.
Later note: In addition to str 110, this basket also revealed str 189, an odd rectangular feature difficult to interpret. This context reveal two stones of this structure running in a NS direction abutting the north face of Structure 110. They were left in place, but the rest of Structure 189 was obscured by the rubble pile north of the present context. Later excvaation of this rubble pile as context 118 revealed more of structure 189.
