Corinth Basket: Temple E, Southeast, context 384
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   Temple E, Southeast, context 384
Area:   Temple E, Southeast
Title:   Martyr with tile debris over floor
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1108
Context:   384
Date:   2014/05/22;2014/05/23
Stratum:   Inclusions of large fragments of roof and floor tiles, sub-rounded and platy cobbles and coarse pebbles, pottery and bone (approximately 20%)
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish red. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We begin removing the martyr left between the exposure of the floor surface under contet 368, the area previously excavated in 1993, and the clearing of the top of the E-W wall running at approximately 1074.25 - 1074.50 N. We begin to remove this martyr, which is the continuation of the same deposit as context 368, with small picks moving from the SW corner at the exposed floor moving S to the E-W wall. Again, this is the same deposit as that removed as context 268, but we take them separately to prevent contamination. We continue to remove this martyr moving N to a point at 1078.70 N. The deposit clearly continues to the NE from this point, but we stop excavating at this arbitrary point to focus on the already exposed floor area and the E-W wall.
Two coins (2014-165 and 2014-169) were found in the dry sieve. A good amount of pottery and bone, as well as some iron and glass was collected in this context.
