Description:   Top slope of the context is level.
Notes:   This pile of disarticulated human remains was uncovered along the east wall of grave 2014-07. This grave may have been associated with or disturbed by a bench-like structure (302) along its west side, and aligned with the narthex cross-wall (wall 21). As it may have been distrubed by later activity and this bone pile appears to consist of only one individual, the primary inhumation was assigned a skeleton number first and the determination of this stack as a separate burial event was held off until I was able to verify that the remainder of the primary burial other than cranium and feet was present below still more sediment and tile underlying this disarticulated pile.
This burial was photographed, the photo labeled, and the majority of the bones removed accordingly on 26/5.
The occipital and the majority of the calvarium was exposed at the bottom of the bone pile, and was not removed until session 3 as it appeared to be intermingled with the pelvic region of the primary inhumation and required further excavation.
Excavation on 2/6 exposed a few more elements on the right side (west) of the primary inhumation which were roughly articulated, possibly indicating incomplete removal of the previous interment during the burial of skeleton 375/BL 2014-15. These elements might not have been disturbed when the grave was re-cut, or may have been pushed to the side rather than gathered up prior to depositing them on the later inhumation.
Completion of excavation of this grave on 6/6 verifies that many elements from the R/W side of the primary inhumation extend into the west scarp and past the limits of the grave cut. Some elements collected as part of this grave are therefore assumed to rightfully belong to this earlier grave, and the majority of elements from this side of the grave were collected as a separate context (472/473).
